Cruising, Reimagined

Let's Start Your Journey

Small ships. Remote places. Travel that means something.

Cruising has evolved far beyond buffet lines and megaships. From remote Antarctic expeditions to intimate river journeys through vineyards, private charters off the Croatian coast, or the new generation of floating luxury hotels, it's clear that not all cruises are created equal. I specialize in the kind of cruising that goes beyond the ordinary: small ships, far-flung destinations, and experiences you simply can't replicate on land.

I'm also selective about what I sell. Every cruise line I recommend has been vetted for its sustainability practices, crew standards, and genuine commitment to the destinations they visit. If I can't feel good about recommending it, I won't - and I'll tell you why.

Luxury Cruise Experiences

Our cruise consultation fee of $250 is separate from your total travel investment, and waived if you already know your sailing. Most of our clients invest $15,000–$50,000+ in their trips, including flights, accommodations, experiences, and all the VIP access and insider perks that come with working together.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

Expedition Cruises

For the curious, adventurous traveler who wants more.

Expedition cruising takes you where the big ships simply can't go: navigating narrow fjords in Argentina and Norway, photographing penguins on Antarctic ice, island-hopping to visit giant tortoises in the Galápagos, or wandering the biodiverse waterways of the Mekong Delta. These are small-ship journeys, typically 50 to 300 guests, where onboard naturalists, scientists, and photographers turn every day into a learning opportunity.

Far from passive cruising, you can expect zodiac boat excursions, hiking and paddling, citizen science, and the distinct thrill of being somewhere most people will never go.

This is for you if:

  • You'd rather observe a penguin colony than a poolside cocktail hour
  • You're genuinely curious about wildlife, ecosystems, and remote cultures
  • You want travel that feels educational and adventurous in equal measure
  • You care about the environmental footprint of where you go and how you get there
  • You'd like to leave your adventure with photos and stories to tell

I work primarily with expedition lines whose sustainability programs lead the industry, especially HX, Hurtigruten, Aqua Expeditions, Abercrombie & Kent, and Celebrity Flora. I've been on their ships, and asked hard questions about how they protect the fragile ecosystems they visit. For travelers who prioritize exceptional naturalist guides above all else, I also recommend Lindblad/Nat Geo and Quark depending on the destination. Through my preferred relationships, I can arrange private excursions, onboard credit, cabin upgrades, and VIP experiences, plus pre- and post-cruise plans in your port cities.

The result:

You return home in renewed awe of the natural world, with a hard drive full of wildlife photos, a new understanding of the planet's most remote corners, and adventurous stories from places most people only dream about.

River Cruises

Unpack once, go everywhere.

River cruising is the most underrated format in luxury travel. Small, elegant ships navigate through the heart of cities and regions larger vessels can't access, pulling up directly to medieval stone towns in Burgundy, remote villages along the Mekong, or wilderness camps on the Chobe in Botswana. You unpack once, wake up somewhere new each morning, and spend your days actually in the destination rather than shuffling through a crowded port.

The all-inclusive pricing means no nickel-and-diming, and often include shore excursions. And the special interest angle is one of my favorite things about river cruising. Imagine sommelier-hosted wine journeys through Bordeaux or the Douro, birding safaris through the Okavango Delta, or photography-focused itineraries through Southeast Asia.

This is for you if:

  • You want deep cultural immersion without moving hotels every few days
  • You've done Europe by land and want a completely different lens
  • You have a specific passion like wine, history, wildlife, photography, or food - and you want to follow it somewhere new
  • You prefer a well-traveled, intellectually curious fellow passenger over the megaship crowd
  • You want generous inclusions and straightforward pricing with no surprises

River ships carry a meaningfully smaller ecological footprint than ocean vessels, and the lines I work with - primarily AmaWaterways, with select itineraries from Uniworld, Avalon, and Viking - have sustainability programs worth respecting. Through my preferred relationships, I can arrange private excursions, onboard credit, cabin upgrades, and VIP experiences, plus pre- and post-cruise plans in your port cities.

The result:

You return with a sense of a place that surface-level tourism simply can't deliver: the rhythm of a river valley, the taste of wine from a vineyard you visited that afternoon, and the satisfaction of having truly experienced a place instead of only hitting the highlights.

Luxury Ocean Cruises

When only the best ship will do.

I'll be honest: I'm selective about ocean cruising. The mainstream lines aren't something I recommend, and I won't suggest something I can't stand behind, either environmentally or experientially. But there is a tier of ocean cruising that genuinely delivers, with intimate ships, exceptional service, and itineraries that go well beyond the usual ports.

There's also a compelling new development worth watching. Ritz-Carlton is sailing its luxury yachts, Four Seasons launches its first ship this year, and Aman is close behind. These floating luxury hotels bring established hospitality brands to sea, operating more like a private all-suite hotel than a traditional cruise.

This is for you if:

  • You want exceptional service and beautifully designed ships without compromise
  • You're drawn to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, or longer voyages like transatlantics or world segments
  • You appreciate all-inclusive pricing and genuinely intimate scale - typically under 500 guests, often far fewer
  • You're curious about the new generation of luxury hotel branded ships launching now
  • You want the comfort of a ship with the sensibility of a luxury boutique hotel

The lines I work with - primarily Seabourn, Silversea, Cunard, Explora Journeys, Ponant, and Regent Seven Seas - share a commitment to small-to-midsize ships, genuine luxury, and responsible operations. Ponant in particular publishes its sustainability numbers publicly, which is rarer than it should be. Through my preferred relationships, I can arrange private excursions, onboard credit, cabin upgrades, and VIP experiences, plus pre- and post-cruise plans in your port cities.

The result:

You step off the ship rested, well-fed, and genuinely impressed, after having experienced the Mediterranean or Caribbean in a way that felt personal, unhurried, and worlds apart from the megaship version of the same itinerary.

Private Yacht Charters

Your ship, your schedule, your rules.

A crewed private yacht puts you entirely in control: your itinerary, your pace, your guests, your privacy. No set schedule, no crowds, no compromises. Your captain knows every hidden cove. Your crew anticipates every need before you ask. You decide at breakfast whether today calls for a secluded beach, a hilltop village, or simply drifting in a perfect bay with nowhere to be.

Charters typically run Saturday to Saturday and can be done on everything from classic sailing yachts to sleek motor vessels. The most popular destinations include Greece, Croatia, Turkey, French Polynesia, the Caribbean, and beyond.

This is for you if:

  • You're celebrating something significant like a honeymoon, milestone birthday, anniversary, or family reunion, and want true privacy with true luxury
  • You want to explore a country on your own terms, guided by people who know it intimately
  • You're traveling with a close group and want a shared experience that couldn't happen any other way
  • You value freedom over structure, and find rigid itineraries exhausting
  • You want the most locally-rooted version of a destination like Greece or Croatia

Beyond the obvious luxury, the sustainability profile of private charters is genuinely better: smaller vessels, local crews, and direct economic benefit to the communities you visit. A private charter in the Greek islands is simply a better choice, both ethically and experientially, than a mainstream cruise through the same waters. I work with vetted charter specialists and locally-based operators in the world's top yachting destinations. I can also arrange private land excursions, plus pre- and post-cruise plans in your port cities.

The result:

You return with the kind of stories that couldn't have happened on a pre-set itinerary: insider knowledge of a coastline, a crew that felt like friends by day three, and memories made on your own.

Why book your cruise through a travel advisor?

Most travelers don't realize that booking a luxury cruise through an advisor costs exactly the same as booking directly with the cruise line. If you know your sailing, the cruise line pays my fee, and you pay nothing extra. (If you need help choosing, I offer a $250 flat cruise consultation fee.) What you do get, that you wouldn't get otherwise:

Perks you can't access online.
Through my preferred partnerships, I can arrange onboard credit, cabin upgrades, priority embarkation, and VIP welcome experiences that simply aren't available to the general public. These aren't small gestures; onboard credit alone can run $100 to $500+ depending on the sailing.

Someone who has actually been there.
I've been on these ships, asking hard questions about their sustainability practices, their crews, and what actually happens when something goes wrong at sea. I won't recommend a partner I haven't vetted, and I'll tell you honestly when something isn't the right fit, even if it's a line I work with.

The right cruise, not just any cruise.
There are meaningful differences between Seabourn and Silversea, between AmaWaterways and Viking, and between an Antarctic trip with HX or Lindblad. I'll help you understand what those differences actually mean for your experience - not the marketing version, the real version.

Logistics handled, start to finish.
I'll manage your airfare, pre- and post-cruise hotels, transfers, shore excursion planning, and special requests communicated to the ship before you board. If anything shifts during your trip, I'm your advocate, not a generic 1-800 number.

The honest version of "all-inclusive."
Every cruise line defines "all-inclusive" differently. I'll tell you exactly what's in and what isn't before you commit, so there are no surprises when you want a massage or a private tour.
